The cheerful musical with intoxicating choreographies, colorful stage design, lots of humor and great songs by eightfold Oscar winner Alan Menken is a Stage Entertainment production, produced in license by VBW in Vienna. After the great success at London's West End, the musical premiered at Hamburg's Operettenhaus in December 2010. In April 2011, the musical will open at the Broadway. Co-producer Whoopi Goldberg ensures a heavenly musical experience - inspiring from the very first minute.
Sister Act is the story of the determined, but unsuccessful night club singer Deloris van Vartier. When Doloris witnesses a murder, the police take her in protective custody - at the only truly safe place there is: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she quickly acquires a fan club among her sisters - only the stern Reverend Mother is all but fond of the new student at the convent. Deloris, however, is not the kind of person who sits back and waits for time to pass. Music is her life, and things simply do not work for her without singing. She takes charge of the slightly out-of-tune convent chorus and turns the nuns' faint voices into a truly divine chorus. Along the way, she and her sisters earn the run down church new glamor - risking, of course, to blow Deloris' undercover camouflage. The gangsters go after her and soon pick up her trail. Is Deloris' time running out? Or are the gangsters underestimating the sisterhood's divine powers?
